Strengthening Our Market Presence Through Thought Leadership
Chess Tournament 2026: Strengthening Strategic Thinking Through Play
At first glance, a chess tournament may be perceived as a recreational activity. However, this initiative was designed with a clear strategic purpose: to cultivate not only technical skill, but also employees’ strategic and analytical thinking, discipline, focus, and resilience - qualities that closely reflect the mindset required in our daily work.
The tournament began with 32 participants representing six countries: Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and India. It progressed through country-level rounds, narrowing down to 8 top players, with strong representation from Indonesia and the Philippines. The competition then advanced to the first and second face-off stages, where 2 players from the Philippines, Alex Gabriel Tejada and Jommel Borromeo Asinas, secured their places in the Grand Final, held at our Singapore headquarters on 16 April 2026.
Beyond the competition, participants also had the opportunity to explore Singapore’s iconic landmarks on 15 April 2026, making the experience both meaningful and memorable.
Message from the Chess Tournament Winner - Alex Gabriel Tejada
"Even before the game began, it already felt like Jommel and I had won. The opportunity to visit our HQ and experience the beauty of Singapore exceeded our expectations. Winning the match made the experience even more rewarding. I stayed focused and carefully considered each move. As my strategy unfolded, my confidence grew. Achieving checkmate was incredibly satisfying - it was a proud moment that showed my planning had paid off. Thank you, Collectius, for this truly memorable experience."
It is inspiring to see how a game of chess can reflect the core capabilities we value as an organization. Beyond the competition itself, this initiative brought colleagues together across borders, fostering collaboration and shared learning. It serves as a reminder that continuous improvement can take many forms, even through a chessboard.
Once again, congratulations to Alex Gabriel Tejada from the Philippines for winning the Chess Tournament 2026, and to all participants and finalists for your strong engagement and sportsmanship!
We look forward to more initiatives that challenge us to think smarter, grow stronger, and perform better together.
